Meander through this wildlife paradise that houses elk, deer, peacocks and ducks. This spacious hillside property features a waterfall that leads to a pond surrounded by colorful perennials. Venture to the far corner of the property to discover a log cabin surrounded by a variety of evergreens and hardwoods.

This garden combines native elements with plants and ornaments brought together from around the country. Five groupings of trees are accented by plantings that line the garage, deck and house. Jack-in-the-Pulpits mingle with large ferns, hostas transplanted from Chicago, a collection of driftwood originating from Texas, violets from North Carolina and a colorful selection of summer annuals.

Venture beyond the split rail fence to discover a wonderland of charming vignettes. Follow the path through the butterfly garden with its small stream and pond for birds. The woodland garden features ornate carvings and a wide variety of shade bushes, ferns and hostas. Continue through the arbor along 500' of perennials, but don't miss the pondless waterfall. Finally, arrive at the tranquil Koi pond surrounded by luscious flowers and water plantings.

The Children's Garden is a living, learning laboratory where children can begin to acquire awareness and sensitivity to nature. Children of all ages plant, maintain and harvest plots in Pfeifer Park along the bank of the Embarrass River. The garden is staffed by Master Gardeners volunteering their time.

Mary Stusek, the founder and director of Kenya Works will be at the Pfeifer Park shelter. Mary will fascinate you with her PowerPoint presentation, information and photos of her trips to Kenya Make sure to ask about the community library plans and the many other projects in the "works".

Set in the woods, this collection of gardens features a large shade garden, butterfly garden, herb garden, cacti beds and a 'football field' size vegetable garden with raspberries, a strawberry patch and asparagus bed.
