Kenya Works Education Works

Education is a foundational element for eliminating poverty. Yet impoverished Kenyan children face significant obstacles to access this key to a better life.

To address this need, Kenya Works leverages its deep community partnerships to create educational opportunities through scholarships, infrastructure and building projects and community center support (or nutrition?).

We advance education because we know the path from poverty is paved by a strong educational beginning.

Kenya Works provides scholarships to orphans and vulnerable children in Kenya to ease the financial barrier of furthering their education.

In the spirit of offering people a hand-up rather than a hand-out, we provide scholarship recipients with opportunities to "Pay it Forward." Our Kenya Works scholars are taught the value and significance of becoming active contributors to their communities. These students are experiencing first-hand the rewarding feeling that comes simply by doing a good deed for someone and expecting nothing in return.

Building &

We know that improving school facilities strengthens learning outcomes. Kenya Works partners with communities to build and improve environments where children will be safe, learn and thrive.

From an overcrowded, dirt floor, timber and iron sheeting preschool to this safe and welcoming preschool environment, Kotonje Preschool is but one example of how we are letting these beautiful children know they are worthy and belong in a beautiful and safe space for learning.

Community Center Support

Kenya Works partners with Kenya-based community centers that serve individual needs of their communities. All the centers we partner with offer holistic services connecting multiple aspects of poverty eradication -- education, nourishment and psycho-social support -- so children are ready to learn when they are in school.
