The beautiful artistry of basket making is also a form of income generation for the women who weave the viondos.

The weavers share their love of basket making, the strength of friendship and love of family. Many are elderly “cucus” (the Kikuyu word for grandmother) who have been left to care for grandchildren due to abandonment, HIV/AIDS-related complications and adverse effects of their community’s immense poverty.

Through your purchase, Kenya Works is able to support initiatives which build dignity and future for the artisans, their families and communities throughout Kenya.
