Education Access

Education is one of the most powerful tools for breaking the cycle of poverty—yet too many children in Kenya are left behind.

While primary education is compulsory, many children—especially in rural and marginalized communities—still miss out.

Only 72% of children complete their primary education, and just 53% transition into secondary school. Poverty, gender inequality, child marriage, and cultural practices like female genital mutilation (FGM) remain significant barriers.

Secondary education poses even greater challenges. High fees, limited resources, and overcrowded schools prevent countless students from advancing beyond primary school. Girls are disproportionately affected, with families often prioritizing sons’ education or marrying daughters off to ease financial burdens.

At Kenya Works, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive. Through our Education Works pillar, we provide student sponsorships, feeding programs, and building and infrastructure projects to remove barriers and open doors of opportunity. By powering access to education, we are building brighter futures for children, families, and entire communities.
