We’re thrilled to share that Kenya Works Menstrual Health & Hygiene Summit 2025 made headlines!
Held at the Kenya Works Campus on May 22, the MHH Summit brought together over 150 passionate leaders, advocates, and partners united in our mission to end period poverty across Kenya. Every year the world recognizes Menstrual Hygiene Day on the 28th of May--a global platform for engagement and raising awareness that periods are still holding too many girls from opportunities. In Kenya as many as 2 out of 3 girls lack access to the products, education and WASH facilities, a barrier known as "period poverty."
Through this summit, Kenya Works is activating the collaborative partnerships that are key to sustainable change for this basic need. And, we took the opportunity to elevate youth voices, learn from underserved communities and engage men and boys in this collective work.
We also showcased a prototype Makini Panty—an innovative period panty designed for effective menstrual management. It can be worn alone or paired with our reusable Makini Pad, offering safe and reliable protection. Together, we’re transforming the conversation around menstrual health in Kenya and delivering high-quality, eco-friendly solutions that empower girls and benefit our planet.
The energy and commitment of the day inspired momentum for meaningful change in building a #PeriodFriendlyWorld!
In early May, we were honored to present at the global MH Day kickoff event hosted by WASH United, the founders of #MHDay (recognized annually every May 28.)
Kenya Works shared a case study on our MHH Summit as well as ways we engage men and boys in collective action.
