MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY IS 5.28.21

A world without period poverty and stigma is possible!

This Friday, May 28 is #MenstrualHygieneDay, when the world unites around AWARENESS, ADVOCACY and ACTION for menstrual health and hygiene. Together, we are working to achieve a world where no woman or girl is held back because of her period. PERIOD.

The global goal is to end #periodpoverty by 2030 to achieve a world where:

  • All have access to safe and effective menstrual products.

  • Period stigma and shaming are history.

  • All have basic information about menstruation and how to manage it.

  • All have access to period-friendly sanitation facilities.

Kenya Works is doing its part to build this vital path to equality through our Makini Pad Initiative. The Makini Pad is a reusable sanitary pad kit created by our Kenya-based production team.

Just as important as our eco-friendly pads, when we deliver the kits across the country, our social work team travels along, educating girls on puberty and empowerment. We engage entire communities in the conversation, eliminating stigma and shame.

In Kenya, 2 out of 3 girls do not have access to sanitary protection to manage their periods every month! This leads to lost school days, lost confidence, lost opportunity. Each year we provide 25,000 girls with a Makini Pad kit.

Help us continue building communities of confident girls with bright futures. Your gift of $8 sends a Makini Pad kit to a girl in need, providing her menstrual hygiene protection for at least a year!

And, there is no time like Menstrual Hygiene Day to MAKE IT MONTHLY! You can set up a recurring monthly gift and spread the impact even further toward that 2030 goal--a world where no woman or girl is held back because of her period.

Thanks for all you do to ensure Kenyan girls' equality, value and dignity! #MHDay2021 #ItsTimeForAction
