Provided 17,519 nights of shelter and 70,076 plates of food at our shelter, while building plans for each child to return to a family setting
Reached an average of 1500 children and 700+ families with a daily meal and connected services directly tackling hunger and family instability
Equipped 27,621 school girls with our Makini Pad reusable sanitary pad kits, helping them reclaim 662,904 days of school
Distributed 7500 Boxers for Boys, inviting boys to become allies in building a period-friendly world
Supported nearly 900 young people attending school through our education sponsorship program this year, with vast majority meeting academic requirements
Ensured 2,630 children are receiving a healthy daily meal through our school feeding initiative
Activated 1,800 grassroots leaders and parents to combat gender-based violence and promote children’s rights, fostering safer communities
This is what happens when compassion meets action!
Community Needs: Why Your Support is Vital Now
The challenges:
Food insecurity is on the rise
In the the last decade, Kenya has lost many of the gains it made in eradicating poverty since the start of the century.
Poverty rates are once again on the rise, exceeding levels from a decade ago.
The global pandemic and resulting global inflation alongside climate-related flooding and drought cycles are increasingly hurting the most vulnerable and food insecure.
Petrol prices are driving up food costs while new taxes are decreasing household's purchasing power, especially for the most vulnerable.
Former lifelines and aid programs are being defunded
Communities served by Kenya Works face new vulnerabilities as global power structures shift, direct aid ends and development projects are abandoned.
The abrupt and significant reduction in USAID funding has created a multifaceted crisis in Kenya, with far-reaching consequences for healthcare, humanitarian efforts and the country's overall development trajectory.
