RISING
TOGETHER

Christine—and her community—are soaring beyond barriers

When Christine joined the Golden Eagles, she became part of a sisterhood that is raising more than ambitions—it’s raising an entire community. Together, these girls are proving that when one rises, many rise. Her story is woven into a larger movement of change.

Growing Up in Harm’s Shadow

In Kuria, most girls aren’t held back by ability or ambition. They’re held back by culture and cost.

School fees, uniforms, transportation, and daily essentials stretch families beyond their limits.

When education becomes unaffordable, girls face increased pressure toward early marriage and harmful traditions.

A Door Opens

Everything shifted when Christine joined the Kenya Works Transformative Power of Education (TPE) initiative.

She received a scholarship for secondary school and protection against FGM—safety, stability, and the chance to define her own future.

Through TPE, she gained mentorship, a peer community, and a foundation strong enough to lift her up.

The Golden Eagles

Christine joined 49 other sponsored girls from Kuria who call themselves the Golden Eagles—a sisterhood rising together.

Through Alternative Rites of Passage and human rights training, they are rejecting harmful traditions and redefining what girlhood looks like in their community.

Their courage is reshaping expectations, one household at a time.

Kuria Is Rising Too

The movement doesn’t stop with the girls. Parents, elders, and neighbors are undergoing child protection and human rights training—and embracing new norms.

Christine’s family, once constrained by poverty and cultural pressure, now champions her education.

Across Kuria, a new belief is taking root: girls are meant to be educated, protected, and celebrated.

Becoming Who She’s Meant to Be

Christine’s strong academic performance is more than achievement—it is a declaration that poverty, fear, and tradition will not define her.

She dreams of becoming a doctor to protect girls' health and rights, and strengthen her community from within.

Her journey is already inspiring her younger sister to dream bigger too.

Join the Movement.

Christine’s story shows what is possible when education and community change rise together.
